Megamonster

The Cruel School sits on a volcanic island ringed by sharks, and its science teacher is hiding something in a cave. David Walliams sends Larker, a stubborn and curious pupil, after the truth, and what she finds involves a machine for turning things into monsters. The comedy is broad and the pace quick, but courage, persistence and loyalty between friends hold the story together underneath the jokes. Tony Ross illustrates throughout, and his drawings give the teachers and the school much of their character.
